Tanzanian Malaya Garnet - Skin Polish - 9.05ct

A beautiful richly hued natural Tanzanian malaya garnet. I have carved and skin polished this garnet to retain it's natural shape as much as possible. It was a relatively thin piece of garnet and didn't really suit conventional cutting. From memory this is one of my very early pieces of rough that I purchased way back when I was starting out. I have probably had it for 15 or more years. I thought I should probably do something with it so I very carefully skin polished it and it came out lovely. It has a very smooth fluid feel to it and I think it would make a great ring stone. I would set it in the same style as a skin polished opal. The colour is a hard one to photograph and in the hand has a nice orange pink red sort of hue, very beautiful.
