This is a truly outstanding natural Australian golden yellow sapphire from the Central Queensland gemfields around Rubyvale. Australia has the world's best yellow and golden yellow sapphire, nothing else comes anywhere near the vivid intense hues of these gems. This sapphire was cut from a large piece of rough supplied by the client. Whilst it was large (49.63ct) it was relatively thin and there areas that had veils running through it. However of particular note was a big clear juicy nugget of yellow and we decided to extract that out and cut the main gem from it. It is rare to get a nice nugget of golden yellow. Once I had extracted, preformed and shaped it we were left with a piece around 13ct. I then customised a design for it to best fit the shape and maximise the size, colour and brilliance.
In the end the client was very please with the gem.
