Pink Tourmaline - Freeform Hexagon Portrait Cut - 3.86ct
This lovely natural pink tourmaline from Nigeria has a beautiful deep pink hue and I finished it in a freeform portrait cut. This type of cut is relatively shallow and so allows for a larger ring setting without the gem sitting so high. Freeform cut gems are unique as each and every facet needs to be calculated as I go. I don’t follow a fixed design rather I let the rough stone determine the shape. The portrait cut allows you to see a pure patch of the gem’s hue, it’s chromatic essence.
