A carving of a sakura flower among leaves. This is my first cameo carving after a recent trip to Idar-Oberstein in Germany. It is inspired by the many beautiful gem carvings and lapidary works of art I saw while I was there. Cameo carving using layered agate allows a certain type of shadow work and depth-of-field to develop.
This piece would make an idea brooch, lapel pin, coat pin and the like.
