Brazilian Amethyst - The Huntsman - 88ct

The huntsman is a pretty cool spider and I've encountered a few biggies especially out in the bush.Now I've discovered that I really like carving then in gems. This one is an 88ct amethyst that I’ve carved it such that you can see the main body of the spider and it’s legs wrap up around the stone as if it is holding it.

This piece would make a fantastic pendant and I have a cool idea for it if anyone is interested. :-)
