Australian Parti Sapphire - Polished Dogtooth Crystal - 2.68ct
A really cool natural Australian parti sapphire dogtooth crystal. These make the best pendants around! A simple (or nor so simple) gold cap is usually put on the wide end so it points downwards when worn. Sapphires are formed as a six sided crystal which taper to a pointed tip at both ends however they are generally found as one-half of the whole, such as this example. I have polished the six natural long facets of the crystal to show it's beautiful parti colour pattern. Perhaps I have an overactive imagination but when I look at the crystal I see a coastal landscape scene, with a cliff in the foreground and the ocean stretching out to the horizon. The yellow hue suggests that perhaps it is dawn or maybe sunset. The is just the suggestion of clouds at the very tip.
